Alabama aiming for a fifth Beat Auburn Beat Hunger win
By WVUA 23 Digital Reporter Anneliese Taggart
The Iron Bowl is a few weeks away, meaning this year’s winner of the annual Beat Auburn Beat Hunger food drive will be announced soon.
For the past several weeks, University of Alabama students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community have been collecting canned foods in the fight against food insecurity across the state.
Last year, Alabama’s contribution was 291,047 pounds, ensuring them their fourth win in a row. This year, organizers hope to reach 300,000 pounds of food for the West Alabama Food Bank, which assists Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.
