AIRPORT SHUTTLE SERVICE SWAPS TO LOCAL DELIVERY SERVICE FOR COVID-19’S MOST VULNERABLE
The Tuscaloosa Scuttle Shuttle is a service that usually transports customers to and from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, but they’ve ceased normal operations in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While their regular business is closed, CEO and founder Alison Hudnall said her drivers aren’t out of work. In fact, they’re serving a much higher purpose. Scuttle Shuttle is offering free grocery and necessities pickup and delivery services for those who are most vulnerable to the virus.
“We set up a phone number residents can call,” Hudnall said. “They can give us their list of essential items. We will go and pick up those items and drop them off on their porch, so there’s not face to face contact.”
It’s a work in progress Hudnall said.
“We don’t have it perfectly ironed out,” she said. “Our hope is to be a resource to those who may not have a support system.”
If you’re interested in using Scuttle Shuttle’s service, please call 205-832-9910. The call will go to voice mail, but leave your name and contact information, and someone will return your call.
Hudnall said she’s requesting that residents keep their lists to 10 items or fewer.
