After storms, Alabama Power springs into action

Alabama Power says around 13,000 people across the state were left without power after Tuesday night’s storms.

In the hardest-hit areas of Eutaw and Akron in West Alabama, fewer than 1,000 homes suffered outages.

Alabama Power Community Relations Manager Danielle Kimbrough said the company had crews traveling in from around the Southeast.

“We have resources coming in from our sister company Mississippi Power,” Kimbrough said. “Their crews are onsite working right along with our crews to get power back on and restored as quickly as possible in those areas.”

The American Red Cross is also sending crews to some of the hardest-hit areas in West Alabama. If you’re interested in helping in recovery efforts, learn how you can donate or volunteer right here.
