A dose of cheer amid pain: Eutaw hosts Christmas parade days after storm

Greene County was among the hardest hit areas in storms Tuesday night that left behind a trail of destruction and nearly 50 people homeless.

Long before the devastation was on anyone’s mind, the city of Eutaw scheduled its Christmas parade for Dec. 1. On Wednesday, many wondered if it would still happen. But it did.

Residents who attended the parade said they’re considering considered this a way to bring the community back together, especially right before Christmas.

“It shows good respect to bring the people out, although what we have been suffering and what we have been through in the last couple of days,” said Eutaw resident Moses Tyree. “So I think the people coming out to take a little bit off their mind.”

The parade included floats from organizations across West Alabama.
