Violent Crimes Unit searching for Saturday shooting witnesses

Several people of interest have been located and are being interviewed, but the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is looking for more after a man was shot and killed early Saturday.

TVCU said Wednesday there are several witnesses who have not yet been located that they’re looking to speak with, and those witnesses are strongly encouraged to contact VCU as soon as possible.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of 24th Street and Greensboro Avenue. There, police found 30-year-old Michael Brand Jr., who was shot. Brand was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, but did nor survive.

Investigators said the shooting happened about a block away from Club 205 and coincided with a large group of patrons leaving the club.
