9/11 HITS HOME FOR NATIVE NAVY RECRUITER
By WVUA 23 Student Reporter Madison MacLean
Most remember where they were when news broke that the Twin Towers in New York City were under attack 15 years ago.
For Edroy Francis, that memory is all too clear.
Francis said he was in class at East Brooklyn Congregations High School as the Twin Towers crumbled.
“People just really stayed to themselves and it was real quiet because we were still just trying to unravel what really happened,” Francis said.
The tragedy changed the course of Francis’ life forever, because the was the catalyst that drove him to enlist in the Navy.
Francis said the 9/11 attacks motivated him, and he felt the best way to help his country was joining the military.
Francis is now a Navy recruiter in Tuscaloosa.
