87-YEAR-OLD SHOOTS NEIGHBOR DURING FEUD

MOULTON, Ala. (AP) – An 87-year-old man in north Alabama is charged with wounding his neighbor with a shotgun blast to the shoulder.

Multiple media outlets report Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies arrested L.C. Hall on Wednesday on charges of attempted murder and first-degree assault.

Authorities say Hall went to his neighbor’s house in Moulton, 20 miles southwest of Decatur, and shot him once with birdshot. Sherriff Gene Mitchell says the neighbor was treated and released at a local hospital.

Mitchell says Hall and the neighbor had been feuding and Hall believed the neighbor was responsible for some recent vandalism on his property.

The wounded neighbor’s name was not released. It was not immediately known if Hall had an attorney.
