81-YEAR-OLD WOMAN DEAD AFTER HWY. 171 WRECK

The following is a media release from Alabama Law Enforcement Agency:

TUSCALOOSA POST – A two-vehicle crash at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, has claimed the life of a Fayette woman. Mary Helen Gartman, 81, was seriously injured when the 2001 Nissan Maxima she was driving collided with a 2002 GMC Yukon. Gartman was airlifted to University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital where she died at 9:16 a.m. today, Sept. 18. The driver of the Yukon, Lisa Ann Brent, 43, also of Fayette, was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. The crash occurred on Alabama 171 near the 17 mile marker, approximately 17 miles north of Northport. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
