Walker County Backpacks

Walker County’s students head back into the classroom Thursday, Aug. 8.

Thanks to Alabama Power and dozens of other sponsors, many of those students are getting backpacks and supplies they may not otherwise have.

This morning, more than 750 backpacks were given away at Parrish High School, but those who attended were also invited to a fun-filled morning with outdoor activities.

Back-to-school supplies are a costly imposition for many parents, and events like this help ensure children have everything they need to succeed.

“Capstone (Rural Health Services) and all the volunteers are just awesome for doing this,” said parent Audrey Nava. “This is appreciated for everyone.”
