$5,000 offered in 1994 disappearance, death of Alabama teen

ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (AP) – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information in the 1994 disappearance and subsequent death of a 15-year-old girl.

Al.com reports though it’s been more than 27 years since Chanty Shiverdecker vanished, Central Alabama Crime Stoppers said Wednesday that investigators believe someone is holding information that might help bring closure to her family.

Shiverdecker’s brother, Christopher, marked the anniversary of her disappearance with a post on Facebook. He said the internet and Facebook have been invaluable tools in spreading awareness about the still as yet unsolved case. He urged anyone with information to contact Coosa County Sheriff’s office or Crime Stoppers.
