3 Murray State softball players out of hospital after Fayette County wreck
Three Murray State University softball team members were released from the hospital Thursday after their bus was involved in a Fayette County wreck the day before.
The team’s bus, which held 26 people, was on the way to the NCAA Regional Tournament in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday when the wreck happened on Alabama Highway 13 near the 239-mile marker near Bankston.
The mother of one of the players said her daughter told her the bus was attempting to pass a logging truck, and logs from the truck pierced a bus window during the wreck.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating the cause of the wreck.
The Murray State Racers will take on Stanford at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa May 20 at 5:30 p.m. It’s the team’s first NCAA Regional appearance.
