23-YEAR-OLD WOMAN DIES IN FATAL WRECK ON INTERSTATE 359

Police say a 23-year-old woman died in a fatal one-vehicle wreck early Friday morning.

Tuscaloosa police said they responded to a call on Interstate 359 Southbound near I-20/59, and that when they arrived they learned an SUV had struck a guard rail and killed the vehicle’s passenger.

She was identified as Catherine Virgona. The SUV’s driver is a 22-year-old man who was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.

The wreck is under investigation by the Tuscaloosa Metro Area Homicide Unit and the Tuscaloosa Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
