The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting this afternoon at a grocery store on Highway 69 South this afternoon. Authorities said the shooting happened at Vowell’s Fresh Market around 3:05 p.m. The victim’s injuries appear non life-threatening. There’s not yet information on any potential suspects.

A Tuscaloosa man is facing charges including rape after police say he assaulted a 12-year-old. Police said Michael Deshon Neal was charged with rape, sodomy, sexual abuse, attempted sodomy and attempted rape after the 12-year-old victim told friends at school of the abuse. Neal is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $195,000 in bonds.
