2 MEN ARRESTED ON ROBBERY CHARGES BY LONE TUSCALOOSA COUNTY DEPUTY

Two men are facing charges after a robbery at the Dollar General Store on Highway 82 East in Tuscaloosa County Monday night.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said it happened around 9:46 p.m. The sheriff’s office said the first deputy on scene saw one suspect still in the store, and was told another fled out the back.

That deputy apprehended the suspect who fled at gunpoint, then took the other suspect into custody as he exited the store.

Other deputies arrived on scene, and both suspects were secured and arrested. The suspects who were apprehended match descriptions of those responsible for several recent robberies in other locations, including a robbery in which a store clerk was shot.

Kelvin Quntavious Thomas and Jose Antonio Brown are facing two counts of first-degree robbery with bonds totaling $120,000, but more charges are expected.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy who apprehended both suspects is still fresh from training.
