2 MEN ARRESTED IN IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE INCIDENT FROM DECEMBER

The Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit says two men from Brent are under arrest today stemming from an explosive device that was found on a Brookwood porch in December.

Danny Ray Dunlap, 29, and Lonnie Joseph Sexton, 33, are being held in the Tuscaloosa Jail on a $100,000 bond, and authorities said additional charges are possible.

The incident happened Dec. 17, 2015, in Brookwood. Police received a 911 call after someone found what they suspected to be a meth lab on a home’s porch.

The person who lived at the home said he came outside, saw a duffle bag on his porch, and that when he looked inside he saw what he thought was a portable meth lab. The officer who responded said when he looked inside the back he saw another item he thought could be an improvised explosion device.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Device Unit was notified, and the device was moved to a secure location for examination and safe detonation.
