2 former Natchez employees indicted on embezzlement charges
NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) – The Mississippi auditor’s office says two former Natchez city employees have been arrested after they were indicted on embezzlement charges.
Auditor Shad White says former city clerk Servia Fortenberry and former deputy clerk Sevetrius Dillon are accused of wiring payments from a city account to themselves without approval.
It was not immediately clear whether either woman is represented by an attorney.
Fortenberry resigned in November.
She told The Natchez Democrat that while doing a final payroll, she paid her own salary, vacation time and compensation time. She said documentation was in the clerk’s office.
