15-YEAR-OLD’S SHOOTER FACING ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES

A man accused of shooting at 15-year-old in the back on Sunday is facing attempted murder charges.

Investigators with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a request at DCH Regional Medical Center for homicide investigators around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators said they learned it happened in the 1900 block of Ridgehaven Drive in Cottondale when the suspect, Jeremy Lee Pope, 33, was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife. The wife left the home, and two of the home’s other occupants, along with the victim and another male, visited the home to retrieve the wife’s belongings.

Investigators said when the two men who did not live in the home pulled up, Pope confronted them. Eventually, Pope went to a shed, got a rifle and began shooting at the vehicle and people in the driveway, then fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Children’s Hospital for treatment, and police filed an attempted murder warrant on Pope.

Pope turned himself in to the Tuscaloosa County Jail and was released after posting a $60,000 bond.
