1 dead in Walker County officer-involved shooting Monday

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s State Bureau of Investigation is looking into a shooting Monday involving an officer with Gardendale Police Department.

The shooting happened just after 6 a.m. near the 100 block of School Street in Cordova. Officers were there to execute a search warrant when someone fired a weapon.

Johnny Karris, 47, of Cordova was fatally injured and died at the scene. No officers were injured in the incident.

The investigation is ongoing but will be turned over to the Walker County District Attorney’s Office once complete.
